On Sunday 26 April, the Friends of Kevin Hoffman Walk were delighted to team up with the fantastic crew from Lara Health and Fitness Centre for a Community Working Bee and BBQ.
With 11 LHFC members and 4 Friends volunteers, it was a productive and enjoyable morning focused on top dressing the Walk’s paths to help keep them in great condition for visitors.
To get the job done, we formed two teams who shovelled, wheelbarrowed, raked, spread, levelled and compacted the path toppings. Working together, the group moved an impressive 6 metres of toppings across the morning.
Now that the bar has been set, in true gym style, we might need to chase a PB next year and aim for 7 metres! Check out some of photos from the morning below and see that LHFC energy in full swing!

The weather turned it on with sunshine and mild autumn temperatures, making it an ideal morning to be outdoors, lending a hand and enjoying great company along the way.
Lara Health and Fitness Centre is more than just a gym. It is a strong local business that values community, connection and wellbeing, and that was clear to see throughout the day. If you would like to learn more about this great community gym, head to their website here.
After the work was done, everyone enjoyed a well earned BBQ hosted by Beverley Hoffman. A big thank you to Dave from LHFC for generously supplying the sausages, hamburgers and bread, and for initiating this wonderful working bee collaboration.
We sincerely thank the LHFC team for their time, energy and support. Based on all the positive feedback, it looks like this could become an annual event, which is fantastic for both organisations and the wider Lara community.
If your business, club or community group feels inspired by this or any of our other collaborations, we would love to hear from you. Please send us an email to express your interest.
Community connections like these help keep the Walk thriving.
Enjoy your Walks!
