Kevin Hoffman Walk guided tours offer a welcoming group experience in Lara, combining the story behind the Walk, a relaxed walk through the gardens along the trail, and morning or afternoon tea.
Set alongside Hovells Creek in Lara, this unique native garden reflects Kevin Hoffman’s dedication over more than four decades. Join the Friends of Kevin Hoffman Walk to hear how it all began and explore the gardens visitors enjoy today.

More than a guided walk
Our tours are usually hosted by Greg and Linda, with morning or afternoon tea kindly hosted by Beverley. Each experience includes time together to hear the Walk’s story, enjoy a cuppa and chat, and explore the gardens on a guided walk lasting approximately 45–60 minutes.

We walk at a relaxed pace, with time to pause, take photos and admire the gardens along the trail. On morning tours, having heard the story together over tea, you can enjoy exploring at your own pace, with our hosts nearby to answer questions.
Please allow up to two hours for the complete experience, including tea, coffee and light refreshments, the group talk and the guided walk. The time can vary depending on your group’s size, interests and questions.
Our recommended morning experience
We recommend a 10.30 am start, gathering first for morning tea and a group talk. This gives everyone the opportunity to hear the story together before heading out for a relaxed guided walk, connecting what you have heard with the gardens around you.
Stay for lunch in Lara
Make a little more of your visit by enjoying lunch locally after your morning experience. For a 10.30 am start, we recommend booking lunch no earlier than 12.30 pm.

- The Bistro at Lara Sporting Club — approximately a 4-minute drive away and a valued Platinum Sponsor of the Friends of Kevin Hoffman Walk.
- Millars Café — approximately a 6-minute drive away and a longstanding advocate for the Walk.

Prefer an afternoon visit?
Our suggested afternoon start time is 2.00 pm, beginning with the guided walk before gathering for afternoon tea and a group talk. It is a lovely opportunity to reflect on what you have seen, ask questions and hear more about the Walk’s story.
Cost and payment
The complete experience is $5 per person, including morning or afternoon tea, a group talk and the guided walk. Your visit supports the ongoing care of the Kevin Hoffman Walk.
Payment is required on or before the day of your tour. An invoice can be provided upon request.
Planning your visit
Tours are arranged on request, subject to our volunteer hosts’ availability. If our suggested start times do not suit your group, please let us know so we can discuss an alternative together.
Most of the Walk is accessible, although some sections have steps. Please tell us about any mobility or accessibility requirements when enquiring so we can discuss a suitable route.
