We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a small team from Cobram Estate Olives Limited to the Kevin Hoffman Walk for a hands-on afternoon of mulching and what a fantastic effort it turned out to be.
Over the course of just two hours, Darren, Shannon, Tammy, Daniel and Shelley from Cobram Estate, joined forces with four of our Friends of Kevin Hoffman Walk volunteers to spread mulch throughout sections of the Walk. What could have been a big task quickly became a shared mission, with Shannon setting the goal to empty both mulch piles before the end of the session… and together, that is exactly what the group achieved!
It was a really productive afternoon but just as importantly, it was a lot of fun. The group worked seamlessly together, with plenty of friendly conversation along the way, making it a great example of what can be achieved when community and corporate teams come together with a shared purpose.
From Conversation to Collaboration
This collaboration had been a few months in the making. The initial conversation began late last year, followed by an opportunity for us to present to the Cobram Estate team during one of their lunch breaks, thanks to the support of Claudia Cook, People and Culture Advisor, who helped coordinate the connection and bring the day together.
From there, a date was set and staff were invited to put their hand up to be part of this volunteer activity.
It was really rewarding to see this connection come to life and this day was a perfect example of how a simple conversation can grow into meaningful community action.

Supporting Community Through Volunteering
Cobram Estate’s commitment to giving back to the community is evident through their volunteer program, which encourages team members to step away from their usual roles and contribute to local initiatives. Whether through organised group activities like this one or individual efforts, their approach supports stronger connections within the communities they operate in.
We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm the team brought to the Walk. In just a short window, they helped us achieve a significant amount of work that will benefit the Walk and ultimately its preservation for the wider community to enjoy.

Looking to the Future
We would love to see more collaborations like this in the future.
If your workplace or community group is looking for a meaningful way to give back, we would welcome the opportunity to work together. Whether it is a hands-on activity like mulching or another project around the Walk, there is always something to be done.
We are also available to visit workplaces and community groups to share the story of the Kevin Hoffman Walk, its history and the work we do to care for it. If you are looking for a guest speaker or would like to explore a volunteer session with your team, we would love to hear from you.
A Heartfelt Thank You
To the team from Cobram Estate Olives Limited, a huge big thank you. Your contribution made a real difference and we are so appreciative of your support.
It was a fantastic afternoon and we hope it is the first of many collaborations to come.
